Report reveals why Spurs players did not expect Harry Kane back after his gesture last season

Eurosport have revealed that Harry Kane said his goodbyes to his Tottenham teammates and staff at the end of last season.

Kane was expected to report back to pre-season training on Monday but the striker has not shown up at Hotspur Way yet in an effort to force through a move to Manchester City.

Eurosport’s Dean Jones has now shed more light on the striker’s situation by explaining that Kane expected his future to be sorted out before he was due to return for pre-season training.

The striker allegedly said his goodbyes at the end of last season and it is suggested that his teammates did not expect to see him back at Hotspur Way due to the nature of the way he thanked them.

However, it is explained that the deal has not progressed the way the England captain would have hoped for, with City yet to make a formal offer despite privately negotiating potential options in terms of structuring an agreement.

The report claims that chairman Daniel Levy is now more firm than ever on his stance that Kane will not leave Tottenham this summer.

It is said that sources close to the club have stated that the idea of having a gentleman’s agreement for a footballer who is valued at over £150m is ‘unimaginable’.

Kane has clearly made things much more difficult for himself than it needed to be. He would have had a much better chance of leaving Spurs if he had turned up at Hotspur Way, put in a transfer request and made it clear to Levy (and Nuno) that he does not want to be at the club. Instead, by violating his contract and taking a more public chance, he has antagonised Levy.
