Report reveals why Spurs target Alessandro Bastoni is currently in London

Football.London have reported that Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is in London on international duty for Italy amidst recent interest from Tottenham.

Spurs have been linked with the talented 23-year-old centre-back in a potential reunion with former coach Antonio Conte, who is keen to strengthen his squad ahead of the new campaign (Daily Mail).

The Times has claimed Inter are demanding a fee in the region of £54 million to sanction a deal for Bastoni, who made 44 appearances for the Serie A runners-up this season (Transfermarkt).

Coincidentally, Bastoni posted an image of himself on Instagram on Tuesday captioned: “Flying to London”, which caused a little stir ahead of the opening of the transfer window.

But Football.London reveal it is nothing to do with Spurs’ pursuit as he is travelling to the English capital with the Italy squad in preparation for Wednesday’s match against Argentina at Wembley Stadium.

Roberto Mancini’s men are set to face Lionel Messi and his team under the arch in North-West London in the revived Finalissima – a one-off fixture between the European Championship winners and Copa America champions.

It is business as usual as it stands regarding Bastoni and maybe he wanted to add a little bit of fuel to the fire with that caption in particular.

It will be a tricky deal to complete as the reports have already uncovered, but there is a long way to go ahead of the new season so anything can happen between then.
