Report reveals why Tanguy Ndombele’s summer sale to Inter Milan fell through

According to Calciomercato, the negotiations between Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan for Tanguy Ndombele only fell through because the Serie A side managed to secure Arturo Vidal from Barcelona this summer.

Ndombele was heavily linked with a move to Inter even up until the start of September (Sky Sports Italia via Sempre Inter) but the move never materialised.

The 23-year-old has been in excellent form for Spurs at the start of the new season and is now seen as a first-team regular for the side.

Calciomercato reveal that Daniel Levy was intent on recouping the €60m (£54.5m) that Tottenham paid for the midfielder last summer and held extensive talks with the Nerazzurri when the transfer window was open.

The report claims that the possibility of including Milan Skriniar as a part of the deal was also discussed between the two clubs. However, talks ended the moment Antonio Conte’s side secured Vidal’s services.

The report also asserts that the Italian side will not return for the France international in January as Conte is pleased with the way the Chilean has fit in, while Ndombele has also become an important player for the North Londoners.
