Report reveals Zinedine Zidane has asked Real Madrid to explore signing Spurs man

According to a report from Defensa Central (as relayed by Sport Witness), Real Madrid’s interest in Son Heung-min is being driven by Zinedine Zidane, who is keen to add the Tottenham forward to his squad in the summer.

Son has taken his game to a new level this season and the South Korean’s performances have attracted rave reviews.

The forward has already notched up 16 goals and 7 assists so far this campaign and is showing no signs of slowing down.

It thus does not come as much of a surprise that reports indicate Tottenham are keen to secure the 28-year-old’s future by handing him a new five-year contract, with his current deal running until the summer of 2023.

However, Son’s form has seemingly also caught Real Madrid’s attention, with Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur reporting at the start of the month that Los Blancos are eyeing a move for the Tottenham star.

Defensa Central now suggest that Son is leading Zidane’s agenda, with the Frenchman telling the Real Madrid board to explore the possibility of signing the Spurs man.

However, the report reveals that any deal for Son would ‘far exceed €100m’ and that might put the former Bayer Leverkusen man out of Real Madrid’s budget.

Multiple sources (The Telegraph and Fabrizio Romano) have indicated that Tottenham are confident that the South Korean will put pen to paper on a new deal. So Spurs fans should take these transfer rumours with a pinch of salt. Son’s representatives might even be putting this out there to ensure the forward gets the best possible terms on what is likely to be the last big contract of his career.
