If reports in the Spanish press are to be believed, then this is likely to be Gareth Bale’s final season with Real Madrid.
The Welshman has endured a difficult season in which he has found playing time hard to come by and has even been booed by his own fans on a couple of occasions.
The 29-year-old has been linked with several top European clubs including a return to Spurs.
According to a report in Spanish outlet AS, Madrid have slapped a price tag of £113 million on the former Tottenham man, and aren’t willing to settle for anything less.
Bale reportedly earns £26million a year before tax (around £500,000-a-week) in wages at present, and thus a return to Spurs looks highly unlikely for Bale.
There have been also been suggestions of a swap deal involving Bale and Christian Eriksen in parts of the Spanish press.
Given that Eriksen is valued by Spurs at £95 million (The Mirror), that would mean that Spurs have to cough up £18 million plus Eriksen in exchange for the speedy winger.
Thus, a return to Spurs for Bale is all but completely ruled out as Daniel Levy is unlikely to be in favour of such a large outlay for an injury prone player who will be 30 next season.
