Report: Right-back Spurs are ‘strongly interested’ in admits Premier League desire

Le10Sport have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘strongly interested’ in signing Atalanta right-back Timothy Castagne this summer.

TuttoMercatoWeb (via Daily Mail) reported at the start of the month that Tottenham were in talks with the Serie A side over the possibility of signing Castagne.

Corriere Della Sera revealed last week that the full-back has informed Atalanta that he will not be signing an extension, with the club likely to cash in on him this summer.

Le10Sport claim that Jose Mourinho likes the 24-year-old’s and that Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain are both set to compete for the Atalanta star’s signature this summer.

In a potential boost to Tottenham’s chances of landing the right-back, Castagne has also admitted that he would prefer a move to the Premier League.

He said in an interview to RTFB (as relayed by Le10Sport): “I like the Premier League and the direct play we play in England. But whether it comes now or in a few years, it doesn’t matter.

I believe Castagne would be a much more solid addition for Spurs that the other right-backs we have been linked with including Thomas Meunier and Max Aarons. The Belgian is capable of also filling in at left-back and is extremely good defensively, and would thus offer as a different kind of option to Serge Aurier.
