Report: Right-back wanted by Spurs expected to complete move to PL rivals

Brazilian publication UOL have reported that Brentford are expected to complete a deal for Gremio right-back Vanderson, who was said to be of interest to Tottenham Hotspur.

Since breaking into the Gremio side 12 months ago, Vanderson has emerged as one of the best full-backs in Brasileiro Serie A.

Globo Esporte reported in the summer that the 20-year-old was on Tottenham’s radar. It was alleged that the North London club had requested information about the defender but Gremio refused to enter into talks.

If UOL’s latest report is to be believed, it looks like Vanderson is on his way to Brentford. The report claims that the right-back’s move to the Bees is now seen as ‘imminent’ after Gremio accepted a proposal from Thomas Frank’s side.

The transfer fee for Vanderson is thought to be around the region of €14m (£11.9m) including add-ons.

The report explains that Spurs, AC Milan and Newcastle also registered their interest in the right-back but only Brentford made a concrete proposal.

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect Spurs to be in the market for a right-back in January to offer competition to Emerson Royal. The fact that Conte started Tanganga ahead of Doherty against Norwich suggests that the Italian does not rate the former Wolves man highly.
