Report: Right-back wanted by Spurs speaks out on future

Lille right-back, Zeki Celik, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham, has now claimed that he is happy to stay with the Ligue 1 club beyond the summer.

Celik has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Lille this season and is one of several right-backs to be linked with a move to Spurs throughout 2020.

The North Londoners were linked with the 23-year-old during the January transfer window (Turkish publication DHA) but the defender ended up staying put in France.

Jose Mourinho is said to be a fan of the full-back, who is reportedly available for around £25 million this summer (BuzzSport). West Ham United are also said to be holding an interest in the Lille star (Turkish Football).

However, the promising defender has thrown cold water on the speculation regarding his future by revealing that he is happy to stay at Lille and honour his contract.

When quizzed on the speculation, Celik told DHA (as relayed by Football.London): “I have a four-year contract with my club. It is also said that there are suitors for the transfer, but I do not know. I am preparing for the new season and I am happy with my club.”

Those comments sound pretty non-committal and reading between the lines, it does sound like Celik is open to the possibility of leaving Lille. Joao Sacramento will know him well from his time at Lille and so it is conceivable that we are taking a close look at him. However, based on recent reports, it does sound like Max Aarons and Thomas Meunier are our top targets.
