Report: Roma boss Jose Mourinho eyeing move for Tottenham player

Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele to Roma, according to Calciomercato.

The report claims that the former Spurs boss is looking to bring some athleticism to his midfield options.

Mourinho enjoyed an impressive start to life at the Serie A club having won their first three top flight matches this season, but have since found things more difficult with defeats in two of their last three outings.

The French international is said to have asked to leave the North Londoners ahead of the start of the campaign, which comes off the back of his first season where he told friends he was seeking an exit after finding Mauricio Pochettino’s training sessions to be demanding (Football.London).

After starting the season out of favour under Nuno Espirito Santo, the 24-year-old has since started each of Tottenham’s last four matches in all competitions (transfermarkt).

Given the club-record fee which Tottenham outlayed to bring Ndombele to the club, it would be likely that Daniel Levy would want to recoup the vast majority of the £53.8million (BBC).

It would seem unlikely that Roma would be able to meet Tottenham’s financial expectations and Ndombele needs to certainly show more willing to defend than he displayed against Arsenal on Sunday.
