Report: Roma ready to sell rumoured long-term Spurs target for reduced fee

Roma are being tipped to sell Tottenham Hotspur target Nicolo Zaniolo on a cut-price deal due to their rumoured financial problems.

Zaniolo’s reputation has burgeoned considerably over the last couple of seasons due to his displays in Serie A and the 20-year-old is now one of the most highly-rated midfield talents in Italian football.

Tottenham were linked with a move for the Italian international last summer (Mirror) and reports indicate that the North Londoners are still keeping tabs on the left-footer (Leggo).

Spurs’ chances of landing Zaniolo looked pretty slim as Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi vowed last month that the Italian outfit will do everything in their power to keep Zaniolo (Sky Italia).

It was also reported by Il Tempo back in May that the Italian giants want over £70million to part ways with the midfielder.

However, Corriere dello Sport have now claimed that the Giallorossi might not have much choice but to let Zaniolo leave due to their mounting debt.

The club reportedly have been hit with losses of up to £120million and so it is suggested that they will find it hard to turn down offers of around €60 million (£54million) for their prized asset this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe a lot more top players will become available over the next few months due to the difficult financial situation that different clubs around Europe are facing. However, I cannot see us taking advantage of Zaniolo’s potential availability as it is clear we are not in a position to spend around £50 million on any one player this summer.
