Report: Roma reject a Tottenham cash plus player offer for Nicolo Zaniolo

CalcioMercato.it have revealed that AS Roma have rejected Tottenham’s offer of cash plus Joe Rodon for Nicolo Zaniolo.

It was reported earlier this week that Fabio Paratici has flown to Italy to negotiate the sales of Japhet Tanganga and Bryan Gil, and that the Spurs managing director of football could also explore the singing of Zaniolo during his time in the country (Daniele Longo).

If Calciomercato.it’s update is to be believed, Tottenham not only held talks with Roma regarding the winger but also submitted an offer.

The report claims that Zaniolo, who has two years left on his contract (Transfermarkt), may be on his way out of the Stadio Olimpico following the arrival of Paulo Dybala on a free transfer.

Spurs are said to have made an offer of £25m plus Rodon, who the north Londoners allegedly value at around £15m.

The report adds that the Giallorossi turned down Tottenham’s bid and that they would only be willing to sell Zaniolo for a straight cash offer.

Spurs Web Opinion

We know that Paratici and Conte are both fans of Zaniolo. So, this development does not come as a surprise. Perhaps Conte views the 23-year-old as the creative playmaker that Spurs need.

However, I am not sure that Spurs would be willing to bid much higher than £40m for the Italy international, given his recent injury troubles.
