Report: Roma reject Tottenham’s loan offer for Zaniolo with obligation to buy

90 min report that Roma have rejected Tottenham’s offer to sign Nicolo Zaniolo and the Serie A club are unhappy with the fee the North London club have offered.

Monday’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claimed that Spurs’ best offer for Zaniolo so far was a loan with an obligation to buy at €25m (£21m).

The report added that Antonio Conte’s men had to increase their offer if they are to have any chance of snapping up the winger this summer.

90 min are now reporting something similar, explaining that Tottenham’s opening offer for the 23-year-old was a loan with an obligation to buy for €25m (£21m) plus a further €10m (£8.4m) in add-ons.

The report states that the Giallorossi rejected the offer and that while they are open to loaning Zaniolo to Spurs with an obligation to buy, the Serie A giants are thought to want a fee of at least €50m (£42.2m) for the player.

90 min add that Spurs are wary of his the Italy international’s fitness record and want to see how he fares physically in the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

Zaniolo showed signs that he had put his injury woes behind him in the latter part of last season.

The 23-year-old has been sensational in some of the pre-season friendlies this summer and I am sure that the Tottenham hierarchy would have been watching his performances closely.

Spurs will likely be looking to work out a loan deal that would see an obligation to buy come into effect if the winger remains fit for a certain number of matches next season.
