Report rules out the possibility of Spurs star joining Newcastle next month

According to The Telegraph Newcastle United are unlikely to sign Dele Alli during the January transfer window.

Just when it looked like earlier this month that Alli could get a chance to work his way back into Jose Mourinho’s plans with cameos against Crystal Palace and Liverpool, the midfielder found himself on the receiving end of criticism from the Spurs boss during Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Stoke City last Wednesday.

The Spurs boss publicly criticised the England international and accused him of ‘causing problems’ for his side in his post-match press conference.

A potential reunion with Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain should the Argentine take over in the French capital is reportedly on the cards with the Ligue 1 giants backed to make a loan offer.

Reports previously indicated that Newcastle are also interested in signing the midfielder on a temporary deal.

However, The Telegraph claim that the Magpies are not likely to be in a position to afford Alli’s wages.

In addition, it is suggested that the Spurs star is reluctant to move to the North East.

I would imagine that Daniel Levy would prefer to loan or sell Alli abroad rather than to a Premier League club. At the moment, everything points to a move to PSG. I would expect it to be a temporary move rather than a permanent one as I doubt the Parisians will be willing to meet Levy’s asking price for the midfielder.
