Record have reported that Sporting Lisbon boss, Ruben Amorim, has decided to stay put in Portugal until 2026 despite recent links with Tottenham Hotspur.
A number of publications have suggested that Amorim is a Tottenham target following the uncertainty around Antonio Conte’s position in North London.
Correio da Manha claimed earlier this month that the Sporting Lisbon head coach is desired by a number of European clubs, but Spurs were leading the race.
O Jogo (20/03/23 via Sport Witness) then reported that Amorim himself was keen on the idea of managing in the Premier League.
The Guardian also reinforced Tottenham’s admiration for the Sporting boss, although they revealed that he has a £17.7m release clause in his current contract, which drops to £13.2m at the end of the current season.
Record have now reported that Amorim is ‘oblivious’ to the Tottenham rumours and is focused on remaining with Sporting until 2026.
Spurs Web Opinion:
I think the majority of the Spurs fanbase would now be up in arms if anyone was announced who is not called Nagelsmann or Pochettino.
Any other name will likely be scoffed at due to the calibre of the German and the nostalgia of the Argentine.
