Report: Rumoured Spurs target could be set for January exit

Weston McKennie could still be set for the Juventus exit during the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato.

Max Allegri’s return to the managerial hot seat at the Old Lady was said to have seen the USA international not feature at the forefront of the 54-year-old’s plans.

McKennie has reportedly spoken about his future at the Serie A giants with some of his international team-mates.

The Gazzetta Dello Sport have claimed that new Spurs boss Antonio Conte is keen to bring the midfielder to North London and could push for a move when the window reopens.

Conte is reported to consider McKennie in the mold of Arturo Vidal, by having being able to play as a box-to-box midfielder with a physical side to his game.

Juve were said to have been prepared to let him leave in the summer for a fee upwards of £20m but were unable to find a buyer (The Sun).

The 23-year-old has started seven of the eleven Serie A matches in which has been part of the match day squad, scoring two goals (transfermarkt).

McKennie would be a significant upgrade on Harry Winks as part of our defensive midfield options and offers a level of versatility that the Spurs academy product is unable to offer.

Fabio Paratici will know what value the American can bring to the team, having signed him on loan from Schalke during his time in Turin.
