Tuttosport have claimed that alleged Tottenham target Weston McKennie wants to join Borussia Dortmund during the current transfer window.

The reports linking McKennie with a move to the Premier League have intensified over recent days, with CalcioMercato surprisingly revealing earlier this week that Bournemouth are expected to be the first club to launch an offer for the Juventus star.

However, Corriere Della Sera subsequently revealed a couple of days ago that the midfielder is set to snub the Cherries’ approach and instead wait for one of the bigger players to make an offer.

Spurs, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund were named in the report as the three other clubs who had enquired about the Juve star.

Tuttosport have now asserted that apart from the aforementioned clubs, Aston Villa have also explored a deal for McKennie.

However, the publication adds that the midfielder is not particularly keen on moving to the Premier League and would prefer to return to the Bundesliga instead, with Dortmund now named as a likely destination for the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think either Spurs or Chelsea view McKennie as their first-choice option during the January window. It is understandable why the American would want to move to Dortmund and the comforts of the Bundesliga rather than a club like Bournemouth or Aston Villa as he is looking to get his career back on track after a difficult couple of years.
