Report: Rumoured Spurs target signs new contract with release clause – Expected to leave

Sport Mediaset have claimed that rumoured Tottenham target Gianluca Scamacca is expected to leave Saussolo this summer despite signing a new contract with the Serie A club.

Scamacca has found the back of the net 13 times in 30 Serie A matches so far this campaign (Transfermarkt).

The Daily Express previously revealed that the Sassuolo star was ‘appreciated’ by Spurs managing director of football Fabio Paratici and is ‘one to keep an eye on’ for Tottenham during the summer transfer window.

Antonio Conte’s men are alleged to be facing competition from Newcastle and Manchester United for the 23-year-old (Alfredo Pedulla).

Sassuolo confirmed this week that Scamacca had signed a contract extension with the club until 2026.

According to Sport Mediaset, the striker penning a new deal ‘changes nothing’ regarding his future as he is expected to depart the Mapei Stadium when the transfer window reopens.

The report claims that Scamacca’s new deal includes a release clause but the value of the clause is not specified.

Inter Milan are alleged to be leading the race for the Italy international’s signature while their cross-City rivals AC Milan are also said to be ‘in the background’.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be happy for Spurs to sign Scamacca as a backup to Kane and use the majority of our transfer funds to strengthen in the wing-back areas and at left centre-back. However, my gut feeling is that the 23-year-old would prefer to continue his progress in the Serie A rather than risking warming the bench for a top Premier League club.
