Report: Rumoured Spurs target spent last weekend in London for talks

Rumoured Tottenham target Ilaix Moriba spent last weekend in London with his representatives ahead of a potential exit from Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The La Masia academy graduate is currently in an awkward position with the Catalan side, with the club’s chiefs informing him he will be frozen out of the first team after refusing to sign a new deal.

With one year remaining on his current deal, the Daily Mail claim Spurs have held tentative talks with the 18-year-old’s representatives, but face stiff competition from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and RB Leipzig.

However, Mundo Deportivo believe Moriba and his agents have been in London over the weekend talking to clubs over a potential transfer for the £21m-rated teenager.

The report claims Spurs were not involved in discussions on this occasion, but Chelsea indeed were, with the club’s chiefs monitoring Moriba’s situation closely.

Chelsea could be the likeliest side to structure a deal in the way that Barcelona would like, with the Catalan giants reportedly willing to negotiate with the west London side.

With Moriba’s situation at Barcelona, it is unsurprising that he is garnering a lot of attention from some of Europe’s best and most powerful sides. But, it could land as an opportunity for someone like Spurs to pick up a bargain should talks resume and progress well between both parties.
