Report: Rumoured Spurs target thinks he will be allowed to leave this summer

According to The Athletic (as relayed by HITC) rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Sam Johnstone believes he will be allowed to leave West Brom this summer if the club go down.

Previous reports have claimed that Hugo Lloris could be set for a return to Ligue 1 in the summer and Johnstone is said to be one of the names Tottenham are eyeing as a potential replacement for the Frenchman.

The 28-year-old, who has been outstanding in what has been his first taste of top-flight football this season, is reportedly available for around £7.5m to £10m this summer if the Baggies go down.

The Athletic now reveal that Spurs have initiated contact regarding a potential summer move for Johnstone as well as Manchester United’s Dean Henderson and Burnley’s Nick Pope.

The report explains that the West Brom number one is determined to stay in the Premier League and will push for an exit from the Hawthorns this summer.

The goalkeeper is allegedly confident that the Baggies will not price him out of a move this summer if they fail to avoid the drop.

Spurs Web Opinion

I have been impressed with Johnstone this season but the jury is still out on whether he is of the required quality to replace Lloris as our long-term number one. However, he would offer competition to the Frenchman and signing a goalkeeper of his quality for less than £10m would represent fantastic value for money.
