Report: Rumoured Spurs transfer target is open to joining Italian club

Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur transfer target and Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic is reportedly open to joining Italian side Fiorentina (TuttoMercatoWEB).

Despite this link, Pjanic has reportedly been waiting all summer to re-join Juventus – despite only leaving Turin last summer to join Barcelona for £54.9m.

Barcelona’s current situation means that Pjanic may have to be sold to balance the books.

The Spanish club’s director of football, Mateu Alemany, has told Football Espana that: ‘we know the situation [of Pjanic] and are evaluating the possibility of finding Pjanic a new club’.

Tottenham have also been linked to Pjanic, with Sport reporting that Nuno Espirito Santo backed the potential signing, while TuttoMercatoWEB also stated that Spurs would have no issue matching the 31-year-olds wages.

After his big money to move to Barcelona, his 2020/2021 season was underwhelming and his minutes for the Spanish club were sporadic – only accumulating 619 in La Liga.

A lot of clubs are clearly interested in Pjanic’s signature with Fiorentina now the latest to enter the race. TMW claim that negotiations have already begun and the player wants a return to Italy.

SpursWeb Opinion

Pjanic, given Barcelona’s situation, could be a signing that makes sense. Paratici has obviously worked with him before.

He is over 30 but still has a lot of quality and could be on the cheap. The squad, in my opinion, lacks the experience that Pjanic has in abundance.
