Report: Rumoured Tottenham target has been slapped with £100m price tag

Football Insider report that Everton have slapped a £100m price tag on rumoured Tottenham target Jarrad Branthwaite after Manchester United stepped up their interest in the centre-back.

It has been widely reported by various outlets over the last couple of months that Tottenham are big admirers of Branthwaite and are ready to battle Manchester United for the player’s services next summer (Daily Mail).

In fact, earlier this month, journalist Ben Jacobs also backed Spurs to get involved in a bidding war for the Toffees star, claiming that Real Madrid could also enter the race for the defender’s signature (GiveMeSport).

Manchester United are very keen on Jarrad Branthwaite

Football Insider has now revealed that Branthwaite has now become United’s number-one centre-back target ahead of the summer.

Amidst the uncertainty of the futures of Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire, it is explained that Erik Ten Hag is prioritising signing a left-sided centre-back and has set his sights on the 21-year-old.

While the Red Devils are also said to be monitoring other centre-backs, Branthwaite is now ahead of every other name on their wishlist, with Everton responding by slapping a £100m price tag on their academy graduate.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Postecoglou has made it clear that Tottenham will look to sign another centre-back in the summer, I suspect the club will pursue a young, up-and-coming player in the £20m-£40m price range rather than shelling out a huge fee for a fourth choice centre-half.
