Report: Saints set Danny Ings asking price amid rumoured Spurs interest

According to a report in The Sunday Mirror -16/5; page 73, Tottenham are one of a number of sides who are plotting a move for Danny Ings this summer.

Ings is set to enter the final year of his contract with Southampton and previous reports have indicated that Spurs are preparing to test the water with an offer this summer.

However, Alasdair Gold has previously said the 28-year-old is not keen on the prospect of joining Spurs and playing second fiddle to Kane, who has also been the subject of intense media speculation over the past day.

Football Insider reported that the North Londoners might pull out of the race since they have not been given much encouragement that Ings wants to sign for the club.

However, if The Mirror are to be believed, Tottenham still have not given up hope of landing the England international.

The report claims that the North Londoners could face competition from Everton, West Ham United and Manchester City for the former Liverpool striker.

It is said that while the Saints are desperate to keep Ings at the club and are ready to make him their highest-paid player, they will demand £30m for the forward if he does not sign a new contract.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe we will find it difficult to convince Ings to come to Spurs over the likes of West Ham and Everton because of the Harry Kane factor. The Saints star is now at the peak of his career and would not be content with playing second fiddle to the England captain if he were to remain for another season.
