Report: Sampdoria enter race for 23-year-old Spurs player who is ‘destined to leave’

Sampdoria have become the latest side to enter the race for Spurs defender Juan Foyth, according to a report out of Italy.

Speculation over the Argentine defender’s future has been intensifying over the past week with multiple reports indicating that his time at North London will come to an end this summer.

Mundo Deportivo reported that the 23-year-old had been offered to Barcelona as well as several other clubs around Europe. The Mirror insisted that the Catalans viewed the Spurs star as an inexpensive replacement for Samuel Umtiti.

Football Insider then claimed that Marcelo Bielsa was keen on bringing the Spurs star to Elland Road if Leeds achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Calcio Mercato now report that Sampdoria are also interested in securing Foyth’s signature this summer, after trying and failing to sign the Argentina international during the January transfer window.

The report also claims that the defender is ‘destined to leave’ Tottenham as he is not rated highly by Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho actually praised Foyth for his performance against Bayern Munich but the defender hasn’t featured since being removed at half-time against Norwich and one suspects Mourinho saw something in that game that ticked him off. The fact that so many clubs seem to be interested in the Argentine should hopefully help us to get a bidding war going.
