Report: Saudi clubs could make a move for another Spurs player after failed Emerson bid

TEAMtalk have claimed that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has emerged as a shock target for Saudi Pro League clubs in the final week of the January transfer window.

Just a couple of days ago, it emerged that an offer from Al-Nassr for Emerson Royal had been turned down by Tottenham (The Standard) and it now turns out that another Spurs player is the subject of interest from the Middle East.

TEAMtalk say that Hojbjerg is not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans and that Tottenham are open to selling him for the right price.

The report suggests that Daniel Levy has been searching for potential buyers for the midfielder, with Spurs willing to sell him for a fee in the region of £20m.

Saudi clubs could come forward for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

According to TEAMtalk’s update, while Napoli and Juventus are interested in Hojbjerg, neither club can afford to meet Tottenham’s asking price for the player.

A move to Saudi Arabia has now emerged as an option for the former Southampton man as the £20m figure is not expected to be a problem for teams in the Gulf State.

Saudi Pro League clubs are now said to be ‘seriously considering’ a move for the 28-year-old, who is thought to be keen on a fresh challenge elsewhere.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Tottenham will be more than happy to sell Hojbjerg to Saudi clubs, I do not think the Dane would be too keen to move to the Middle East at this stage of his career.

He will probably want to remain in one of Europe’s top five leagues, which is why a straight loan move or a cut-price sale is still on the cards before February 1.
