Report says one factor could ‘complicate’ January move for Spurs-linked striker

The Guardian have claimed that Serhou Guirassy’s involvement in the African Cup of Nations could complicate any potential January transfer for the rumoured Tottenham target.

It certainly is not surprising that Guirassy appears to be one of the hottest properties in Europe heading into the January window, with the striker boasting of a ridiculous goal record this season and having a release clause of just €17.5m (£15m) on his contract.

The aforementioned release clause has been confirmed by several outlets, including TEAMtalk, who claimed last month that Spurs could battle the likes of West Ham and Newcastle for the 27-year-old.

A few days ago, The Sun reported that even though Manchester United had come forward to express an interest in the Stuttgart star, he prefers to join Spurs over the Red Devils.

AFCON involvement for Serhou Guirassy in January

The Guardian have now stated that the Bundesliga side are expected to be forced to cash in on Guirassy next month as the striker’s representatives have indicated that the player wants to move to the Premier League.

However, the outlet adds that even though a number of English clubs have expressed an interest in the striker, a move in January might not be straightforward.

It is suggested that the Guinea international’s involvement in AFCON, which starts on January 13, could ‘complicate things’.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be extremely surprised if Spurs pushed ahead with a move for Guirassy next month, particularly given that Richarlison has now found form. I expect the Stuttgart star to end up either West Ham or Newcastle.
