Report: Second Premier League club ready to hijack Southampton Walker-Peters deal

The Evening Standard have now reported that newly-promoted Fulham are interested in hijacking Southampton’s proposed deal for Kyle Walker-Peters this summer.

Scott Parker’s side, who won the Championship Play-off Final yesterday, will be looking to bolster their squad ahead of their return to the top flight.

The report claims that Fulham were interested in a loan deal for the Spurs academy man in January before he eventually joined Southampton on a short-term deal.

Fulham are now said to be ready to enter the bidding war for the 23-year-old this summer, despite the fact that reports have suggested a £12m fee has been agreed between Spurs and the Saints (The Sun).

While Walker-Peters has already spent six months at St Mary’s, he also worked with both Scott Parker and his assistant Matt Wells in the Tottenham academy.

The deals for Hojbjerg and Walker-Peters are said to be separate and one is not dependant on the other.

Spurs Web Opinion:

It feels to me as if the deals are done and Fulham are too late. The last thing Spurs will want to do is annoy Southampton and risk them pulling the plug on the Hojbjerg deal.
