Report: Serie A club accept it is ‘almost impossible’ to keep alleged Spurs target

CalcioMercato have claimed that even though Juventus believe it ‘will be almost impossible’ to tie Tottenham target Adrien Rabiot down to a new contract, the Serie A giants have not yet given hope of doing so.

Multiple publications have revealed over recent weeks that Tottenham are battling their North London rivals Arsenal for Rabiot’s signature (The Times).

The French international’s current deal at the Allianz Stadium runs out next summer and TuttoMercatoWeb claimed last week that he has decided not to renew his contract.

The report added that Spurs were ‘moving decisively’ to sign Rabiot but suggested that the midfielder ‘is inclined’ to leave Turin on a free transfer next summer.

CalcioMercato have now revealed that even though Juventus know that Rabiot is not likely to accept a new contract, the Old Lady are continuing to try to see if they can achieve the impossible.

The report states that the Bianconeri have now made ‘informal contact’ with the former Paris Saint-Germain star’s agent and mother, Veronique Rabiot, and hope to hold a preliminary meeting over the coming weeks to discuss a new deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Rabiot does not sign a new deal as expected and is in favour of leaving Juventus in January, I do not see Tottenham making a move for the midfielder this month. Perhaps the North Londoners will revisit their interest in the Frenchman next summer if he decides to run his contract down.
