Report: Serie A club are now set to enter race for 25-year-old Spurs player

CalcioMercato have claimed that Lazio are now eyeing a potential move for Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon.

Reguilon has been frozen out of Antonio Conte’s first-team plans at Tottenham and the North London club have reportedly been left frustrated in their efforts to offload the Spaniard so far this transfer window (Daily Mail).

Over the last week, it has emerged that Tottenham could use the 25-year-old as a makeweight in a deal to sign Ruslan Malanovskyi from Atalanta (Bergamo Corriere).

Meanwhile, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported recently that Nottingham Forest have entered into talks with Spurs over signing Reguilon on loan.

If CalcioMercato’s latest update is to be believed, Lazio could also be about to enter the race for the Spain international.

The report claims that Maurizio Sarri’s side are set to face defeat in their pursuit of Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri, who is expected to complete a move to West Ham United.

It is alleged that Lazio are keen to sign a left-back before the transfer window shuts and could turn their attention towards Reguilon.

However, TMW add that the Tottenham star’s salary may complicate the Serie A club’s efforts to snap him up.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think Lazio would be able to afford a permanent deal for Reguilon. So, it looks like Tottenham’s only hope of offloading the left-back permanently would be as part of a swap or part-exchange deal with Atalanta for Malinovskyi. I would not be surprised if Spurs end up loaning the Spaniard out.
