Report: Serie A club asked Spurs about 30-year-old during talks this month

TuttoMercatoWeb have revealed that AS Roma have explored a potential move for Tottenham winger Lucas Moura.

Much to Antonio Conte’s frustration, Moura has spent the majority of the campaign so far on the treatment table and it has been confirmed that this will be the Brazilian’s final season at Spurs after the North London club passed up on the option to extend his contract (The Telegraph).

Reports over recent weeks have indicated that the 30-year-old prefers to leave Spurs as a free agent at the end of the season rather than during the current transfer window (The Atheltic) despite suggestions that Everton are interested in him (Andre Hernan – YouTube).

Tottenham have now announced that Lucas will return to action for the U21 side against Arsenal this evening as he looks to return from injury.

However, the former Paris Saint-Germain star may have fallen further down Conte’s pecking order after the arrival of Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal.

TMW have now claimed that Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto asked Tottenham about Moura’s availability during the conversations the two clubs had regarding Nicolo Zaniolo.

The publication adds that Brazil international has rejected ‘all destinations’ so far in this transfer window, including Galatasaray.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spurs might prefer to on Moura this window so that they can get a transfer fee for him but it appears like the winger wants to stay until the end of the season.  As things stand, Bryan Gil appears likely to be the one to make way after Dajnuma’s arrival, with another loan move to Spain seemingly on the cards for the 21-year-old.
