Report: New club enter race for Zaniolo and he may prefer them to Spurs

Multiple sources are now reporting that AC Milan could enter the race for Nicolo Zaniolo, even suggesting that the winger would prefer to remain in Italy rather than join Tottenham.

90 min provided a positive update on Spurs’ pursuit of Zaniolo on Monday, revealing that the North London club and AS Roma both agree on the player’s €30m (£26.3m) valuation.

However, it was explained that the Serie A club were insisting on an obligation to buy with any loan deal while Tottenham wanted it to remain an option unless they qualify for the Champions League.

CalcioMercato have now reported that AC Milan are now monitoring Zaniolo’s situation and could be ready to propose a concrete offer.

The publication claims that the Rossoneri are aware the player would prefer to remain in the Serie A and could propose a loan offer with an option to buy for €22m (£19.3m).

Milan’s interest in Zaniolo has also been backed up by Fabrizio Romano, who has taken to social media to reveal that Stefan Pioli’s side have held talks with Roma and are willing to offer €22m-€25m (£19.3m-£21.9m) for the 23-year-old, which falls short of the Giallorossi’s valuation.

Spurs Web Opinion

Zaniolo might perhaps prefer to remain in Italy over moving to England if he had a choice but it sounds like Milan’s offer is likely to fall well short of Tottenham’s. In addition, Roma might prefer to sell the winger to a foreign club rather than a domestic rival.
