Report: Serie A club ‘closer and closer’ to landing rumoured Spurs target

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Napoli are getting ‘closer and closer’ to winning the race for rumoured Tottenham target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Kvaratskhelia has made a name for himself as a result of his impressive performances for Ruben Kazan over the last couple of years.

However, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, he terminated his contract at Kazan and signed a two-year deal with Georgian club Dinamo Batumi, with the winger expected to make a big move this summer (Il Mattino).

Kvaratskhelia’s agent Timur Gurtskaya revealed last year that Spurs showed an interest in his client (Sport Business) and Antonio Conte’s men have been backed to reignite their interest in the 21-year-old this summer (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Area Napoli reported last week that Napoli and Tottenham’s North London rivals Arsenal are also keen on landing the winger when the transfer window reopens.

If TMW’s latest update is to be believed, Napoli are now in pole position to win the race for Kvaratskhelia.

The report claims that talks to bring the Georgian international to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium are well underway and the next few weeks ‘will be decisive’ for the operation.

It is asserted that Kvaratskhelia could put pen to paper on a five-year contract for the Serie A club.

Spurs Web Opinion

I doubt Kvaratskhelia would have been anywhere near the top of Conte’s wishlist. The Georgian is an extremely skilled dribbler but there are question marks over his end product and he is still unproven at the top level. So, unless he is being looked at as a potential option for the right wing-back role, I do not see where the 21-year-old would fit in at Spurs.
