Report: Serie A club ‘confident’ of winning race for Spurs-linked winger

Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed that AC Milan expect to win the race for Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech, who is also rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Ziyech was linked with a move to Spurs late in the summer transfer window (The Times) but ended up staying put at Chelsea.

The winger has continued to struggle for game time at Stamford Bridge this season and reports over recent months have backed the North London club to reignite their interest in the former Ajax man in January

Todo Fichajes stated back in September that Spurs are keen on snapping up Ziyech when the transfer market reopens and that Antonio Conte’s men are willing to pay £20m for the attacker.

However, CalcioMercato reported a couple of weeks ago that Milan had also entered the race for the Chelsea star, who was said to be keen on a switch to the San Siro.

Gazzetta have now claimed that the Rossoneri are favourites to snap up Ziyech and are now ‘confident’ of winning the race for the Moroccan international.

I fully expect Conte to prioritise signing a player of Ziyech’s profile, who can cover for Dejan Kulusevski as we badly missed the attacking penetration the Swede offers when he was out injured.

I wonder if Spurs will perhaps reignite their interest in Zaniolo, given that the 23-year-old has not signed a new contract at Roma.
