Report: Serie A club could challenge Spurs for Marcel Sabitzer

According to a report from Tuttosport, AC Milan could challenge Tottenham for Marcel Sabitzer’s signature this summer.

Sabitzer was heavily linked with a move to Spurs during the January transfer window but the deal failed to materialise.

Previous reports have indicated that the North London club are already laying the groundwork to pull of a potential deal for the Austrian this summer.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has also backed the North Londoners to compete for the midfielder’s signature.

The RB Leipzig star, who has just 12 months left to run on his contract, is reportedly valued at around for around €17.5m (£15m) by Leipzig.

The 27-year-old refused to get drawn into the speculation about his future, insisting at the start of the month that he is fully focused on Austria’s European Championship campaign.

Tuttosport now claim that Milan could now be set to make a move for the Leipzig star. The report reveals that the Serie A giants have identified Sabitzer as the man to replace Hakan Calhanoglu, who has joined local rivals Inter.

The report adds, however, that the midfielder is not at the top of Rossoneri’s wishlist and states that Tottenham continue to crank up their efforts to land the Austrian international.

Spurs Web Opinion

Sabitzer would be a sensible buy for Spurs for a number of reasons. He would be able to provide goals from midfield, something the club have been short of over the last couple of seasons. His price also makes him extremely affordable.

However, whether we move for Sabitzer or not could be dictated by Dele Alli’s situation. While I fully expected the club to cash in on the 25-year-old when Mourinho was in charge, I can now potentially see him staying.
