Report: Serie A club could deny Spurs the chance to sign 23-year-old

Calciomercato have revealed that Juventus could use Weston McKennie as a makeweight for a swap deal in January, thus potentially denying Tottenham the chance to sign the midfielder.

McKennie was linked with a move to Tottenham over the summer, with Fabio Paratici thought to be keen on bringing the midfielder to North London.

The deal did not materialise before the transfer deadline but Lilywhites have been backed to reignite their interest in the Juve star when the transfer window reopens in January.

It was reported last month that the USA international could be heading to Arsenal, with Juve contemplating using him as a makeweight in a deal to take Granit Xhaka to Turin.

CalcioMercato have now reported that Massimiliano Allegri’s men are looking to bolster their midfielder ranks in January and have set their sights on Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni.

The Old Lady are said to be willing to offer McKennie to the Ligue 1 club in a potential swap deal for the Frenchman.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not too fussed about us missing out on McKennie as I am not convinced he would be an upgrade over what we have.

In fact, in Dele, Ndombele and Lo Celso, we already have three players that can play the no.8/no.10 role and I do not expect us to sign a player of that profile unless we sell at least one of the three, which is unlikely in January.
