Report: Serie A club could make move for £25m-rated Spurs star under one condition

Football Insider have claimed that AS Roma could look to snap up Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham in the summer but only if Jose Mourinho is still in charge at the Stadio Olimpico.

Jose Mourinho was the man who brought Hojbjerg to Spurs from Southampton in the summer of 2020 but following an impressive first season in North London, the midfielder has struggled for consistency this campaign.

Il Romanista reported earlier this month that Mourinho wishes to reunite with the former Saints star in Rome before Corriere della Sera (as relayed by Sport Witness) suggested that Spurs would be willing to cash in on the 26-year-old amidst interest from the Serie A club.

Football Insider have now backed up Roma’s interest in Hojbjerg, revealing they had heard from a recruitment source that the Giallorossi were readying an approach for the Tottenham man after failing to snap up him last summer.

The report further adds that Spurs value the Denmark international at around £25m. However, it is explained that a move to the Italian capital would only be on the cards for Hojbjerg if Mourinho is still in charge of Roma by the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think Spurs would value Hojbjerg at closer to £30m but I suspect that the club would be open to cashing in on the Dane at the right price.

I would not be surprised if Conte wanted to freshen up the midfield ranks in the summer, and he might view Hojbjerg as the most dispensable of our four central midfielders.
