Report: Serie A club could sell rumoured Spurs target for just £18m in January

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan could look to sell rumoured Tottenham target Milan Skriniar for a cut-price fee during the January transfer window.

Skriniar’s future remains up in the air, with the centre-back’s contract at the San Siro set to expire = next summer (Transfermarkt).

FCInterNews reported earlier this month that Spurs could look to move for the Slovak in January if he does not agree on a new deal with Inter before then, while The Sun claimed last week that Manchester City and Chelsea also have an eye on the defender’s situation.

Gazzetta have revealed that the Inter hierarchy are in contact with Skriniar’s representatives regarding a new contract and are hopeful that there will be some movement at the start of October.

It is explained that the 27-year-old wants a salary of €6m (£5.4m) per year to sign on the dotted line, which the Serie A giants are willing to offer.

However, it is suggested that in the event a new deal is not agreed, the Nerazzurri would be willing to sell Skriniar for a fee of around €20m-€25m (£18.1m-£22.7m) in January to avoid losing him for free next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be quite happy if Spurs signed Skriniar as a replacement for Davinson Sanchez as I am not convinced that the Colombian is good enough even to be a squad player if we want to compete with the very best teams.

However, Conte seems to be a fan of Sanchez and so, Japhet Tanganga looks the more likely defender to depart the club in January.

I would be surprised if Tottenham made a move for Skriniar as Conte did seem to have some reservations about the Slovak when he initially took over at Inter, although the centre-back did eventually win the Italian over.
