Report: Serie A club eyeing replacement for rumoured Spurs target

Tottenham’s rumoured chase of Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic may have just received a boost after reports from Italy claimed that the Serie A club are eyeing Wolves’ Leander Dendoncker as a potential replacement for the Serbian.

Milinkovic-Savic has been linked with a move to Spurs as far back as March 2018 (Mirror) and the Daily Mail claimed at the start of the month that the Lilywhites could rekindle their interest in the midfielder this summer.

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has hinted that the Serbian international will be allowed to make a decision on his future this summer (Sky Italia via the Daily Mail).

Calcio Mercato claim that Lazio want to sign Dendoncker as he has similar characteristics to Milinkovic-Savic.

Dendoncker played primarily as a box-to-box midfielder at Anderlecht before linking up with Nuno Espirito Santo at Wolves but has found himself used as a ball winner in midfield and even as a part of a back three since arriving at Molineux.

Spurs Web Opinion

Milinkovic-Savic could become available in the summer given that Lazio, like many other Serie A clubs face a difficult position financially. However, the only way I can see us being able to afford him is if we sell Ndombele, which will free up money to move for the Serbian.
