Report: Serie A club fear losing midfielder as Spurs express ‘serious’ interest

NapoliCalcioLive have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have now expressed a ‘serious’ interest in signing Napoli star Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa this summer.

Anguissa has been a revelation since his switch to Naples in 2021 and has been a fixture in the heart of midfield for the Serie A champions this season, having scored three times and provided seven assists across all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

NapoliCalcioLive state that the Zambian international’s displays have caught the attention of some Premier League clubs, with Spurs thought to be in the mix.

The publication states that the North London club are ‘constantly monitoring’ Anguissa as they look to bolster their midfield department this summer.

While Napoli are said to have no plans to let the 27-year-old leave, they are now thought to be ‘anxious’ about Tottenham’s interest.

It is explained that it would take a mega offer to prise the midfielder away from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium but such a bid is said to be within Spurs’ reach.

The report adds that while Anguissa is happy in Naples, Tottenham would be able to offer him a substantial pay rise over his current €3m (£2.6m) salary in an effort to convince him to make the switch this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Anguissa is a well-rounded player and someone who looks made for the Premier League.

However, like many of the other top players who have been linked with a move to Spurs this summer, there is a question mark about whether they would be tempted to join the club, given that we look unlikely to even be in the Europa League next season.
