Report: Serie A club furious about 22-year-old’s behaviour amidst Spurs links

CalcioMercato have revealed that AS Roma are furious at the behaviour of rumoured Tottenham target Nicolo Zaniolo.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported earlier this month that Fabio Paratici held a meeting with representatives from Roma in Italy where potential deals for Zaniolo and Joe Rodon were discussed.

This was subsequently backed up by Il Messaggero, who claimed last week that Roma had offered Spurs, Juventus and AC Milan the chance to sign the 22-year-old on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy at around €45m-€50m (£38.6-£42.9m).

The report added that a departure is unlikely for the winger this summer owing to the Giallorossi’s high asking price.

However, CalcioMercato have now claimed that Roma are tired of Zaniolo’s behaviour and do not plan on offering the player a contract extension even though his current deal only has two years left to run.

The report states that his bad behaviour had been ‘tolerated with difficultly’ by Jose Mourinho previously but following the winger’s latest interview where he said he was flattered by the interest of Juve and Milan, a point of no return has been reached.

It is asserted that Roma will not accept any part-exchange deals for Zaniolo this summer and want a fee of over €60m (£51.8m) to let the Italy international leave.

CalcioMercato add, however, that Roma’s strong stance regarding the player could change over the coming weeks.

Spurs Web Opinion

Zaniolo showed signs of coming back to his best towards the end of last season. However, I still do not see anyone paying over £50m for the 22-year-old on the back of his injury woes over the last couple of years.

If Zaniolo does leave Roma this summer, he will likely join another Serie A club. I would be surprised if Spurs made an offer for the winger.
