Report: Serie A club have enquired about Spurs player – Driven by their scout

CalcioMercato report that Atalanta have now opened talks regarding a deal for Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon.

Atalanta’s interest in Reguilon was first reported by TuttoAtalanta on Wednesday, with the publication claiming that the Serie A club were watching the Spurs star ‘closely’.

The report added that while Gian Piero Gasperini’s side like the former Real Madrid man, his wage demands might complicate any potential move to Bergamo.

CalcioMercato have now claimed that Atalanta are keen to sign a left-back before the transfer window closes and have identified Reguilon as a target. The report adds that the Italian club’s interest in the Spurs star is being driven by their scout Lee Congerton.

It is asserted that Atalanta have already enquired about the availability of the 25-year-old but the economic cost of the operation could be an issue for the club.

CalcioMercato also hint that Reguilon could be included as part of a deal to take Ruslan Malinovskyi from to Spurs.

Spurs Web Opinion

The timing of the speculation linking Reguilon with Atalanta seems like too much of a coincidence for it to not be linked with Tottenham’s rumoured interest in Malinovskyi. Perhaps, Spurs have offered the Serie A club the chance to sign the left-back on loan as part of a deal to take the Ukrainian the other way.
