Report: Serie A club make approach for Spurs midfielder

According to Gianluca Di Marzio (as relayed by Gonfialarete), Napoli have made contact with Tottenham over the purchase of Moussa Sissoko.

Although Sissoko made a bright start to last season, being a fixture in the starting eleven for the first few months, the midfielder found himself struggling for minutes towards the end of the campaign.

Reports indicate that the Frenchman is one of the players that Tottenham will look to cash in on this summer, with Napoli being one of the clubs credited with an interest in the Spurs star.

Di Marzio has now backed up claims of Napoli’s interest in Sissoko, revealing that the Serie A club have identified the 31-year-old as one of the options to bolster their midfield.

Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is said to have enquired about the midfielder’s price to Spurs over the last few days.

The report alleges that the Napoli supremo has even spoken to Sissoko about a move to Naples.

Spurs Web Opinion

The one thing that has crippled us during the last few summers has been our inability to shift our deadwood. It is thus vital that we look to cash in on the likes of Sissoko and Lamela as early as possible so that we have sufficient time to bring in our main targets.

Given that not many clubs around Europe have money to throw around owing to the financial impact of the pandemic, the onus is also on Levy to accept cut-price deals for the likes of Sissoko rather than pricing them out of the market.
