Report: Serie A club have met with Spurs over potential Lo Celso loan deal – Option to buy

According to La Nazione (17/07/22 – as relayed by Fiorentina.it and Sport Witness), Fiorentina want to sign Giovani Lo Celso on an initial loan deal this summer.

It was confirmed that Lo Celso is not in Antonio Conte’s plans for next season when the Argentine was not included in Tottenham’s pre-season tour to South Korea.

Reports from Spain (Marca and AS) have indicated that while Villarreal are keen on signing the Argentine permanently, the La Liga club would have to sell players to acquire the funds needed for a move.

Corriere Dello Sport (16/07/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) claimed on Saturday that Fiorentina are set to enter the race for Lo Celso’s signature.

The report suggested the Serie A club are hoping to bring down Spurs’ €20m (£17m) asking price for the 26-year-old as the operation is ‘not feasible’ for the Viola at that price.

La Nazione have now revealed that Fiorentina have already met with Spurs to discuss a potential deal for the midfielder.

The report claims the Serie A club are keen to add quality to their midfield ranks and have identified Lo Celso as the man to bolster their squad.

The report states that Vincenzo Italiano’s side are hoping to sign the Tottenham man on an initial loan deal with an option to make it permanent.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham are to loan Lo Celso out, they would probably insist on an obligation to buy rather than an option. However, finding a buyer to pay market value for the midfielder could prove quite difficult as not a lot of clubs in Spain or Italy have money to throw around this summer.
