Report: Serie A club looking to tie down £42m Spurs target to new contract

According to a report from Milan Live, AC Milan are determined to tie down rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Franck Kessie to a new contract.

Kessie has gone from strength to strength since arriving at Milan four years ago.

The midfielder, who is known for his combative nature and his ability to carry the ball, has also added goals to his game this season, having found the back of the net 10 times so far this season.

It was reported back in December that Spurs, as well as their North London rivals Arsenal, were eyeing a move for the midfielder.

Milan Live reveal that the 24-year-old is now rated at around €50m (£42.8) as he has now become one of the most important players in Stefano Pioli’s side.

The report also reveals that Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham and Real Madrid all hold an interest in Kessie.

With the midfielder’s current contract at the San Siro only running till the summer of 2022, Rossoneri are said to be keen on offering him a pay rise and tying him down to a new deal.

Kessie certainly has all the attributes to succeed in the Premier League and could potentially form a formidable partnership with Hojbjerg.

However, with Ndombele adapting to a deeper role and with Skipp showing promising signs at Norwich, we would be better of spending that kind of money to strengthen other areas of the pitch in the summer.
