Report: Serie A club make ‘contact’ with Spurs about midfielder – There is competition

Alfredo Pedulla has revealed that Napoli have now opened talks with Tottenham regarding a deal for Giovani Lo Celso.

Lo Celso is one of a whole host of Tottenham players who is expected to leave the North London club before the transfer window closes (Evening Standard).

The midfielder has been linked with a permanent move to Villarreal this summer on the back of his loan spell at El Madrigal last season (Todofichajes).

Fiorentina (The Times), Napoli (Area Napoli) and AS Roma (CalcioMercatoWeb) have also emerged as contenders for the Argentina international’s signature.

Corriere dello Sport reported earlier this week that both Napoli and Fiorentina find Tottenham’s valuation of Lo Celso, which is thought to be around €20m- €22m (£16.7m-£18.4m), to be too high.

However, if Pedulla’s latest update is to be believed, that has not ended either club’s interest in the Tottenham man.

The journalist claims that Luciano Spalletti’s side have now made contact with Spurs regarding a loan deal for Lo Celso with an option to buy. He adds that the Viola also remain on the midfielder’s ‘trail’ and have made a ‘significant survey’.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that Lo Celso is attracting the most interest from Italy but none of the clubs are seemingly in a position to sign the midfielder permanently this summer.

I suspect Spurs are waiting on Villarreal to potentially get a cash influx through Pau Torres’ sale so that Unai Emery’s side make an offer for the former Real Betis man.
