Report: Serie A club make loan offer for Spurs-linked midfielder

Gazzetta dello Sport report that Napoli have now made an offer for Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, who is also thought to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Nandez was linked with a move to Spurs during the summer transfer window, with reports stating at the time that the Uruguay international had put in a transfer request in order to complete a move to the Lilywhites.

However, the 25-year-old ended up staying put at Cagliari, with Tottenham allegedly finding the Serie A club’s €30m (£25.7m) asking price for the midfielder to be too excessive.

Spurs have been backed to reignite their interest in Nandez in January while the midfielder’s agent Pablo Bentacur has admitted the Cagliari president promised to sell his client when the transfer window opens next month.

Gazzetta have now reported that Cagliari want to cash in on Nandez in January as he has informed the club that he will not be signing a contract extension.

Inter Milan are said to be monitoring the player’s situation but it is Napoli who have allegedly made the first offer for the 25-year-old.

It is explained that Luciano Spalletti’s men have made a six-month loan offer with an option to make it permanent at the end of the season but Cagliari are said to be pushing to insert an obligation to buy in the deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Nandez can be a useful squad player and potentially an upgrade on the likes of Harry Winks, I do not see him improving Conte’s starting eleven. We should ideally be aiming higher if we want to close the gap with the best sides in the Premier League.
