Report: Serie A club on the ‘trail’ of Spurs’ summer arrival who wants a ‘new adventure’

La Lazio Siamo Noi have revealed that Pierluigi Gollini will return to Italy at the end of the season since the goalkeeper wants a new adventure away from Tottenham.

Gollini has not made a single Premier League appearance for Spurs either under Nuno Espirito Santo or Antonio Conte since joining on a season-long loan deal from Atalanta in the summer.

Tottenham have the option to buy the Italian goalkeeper on a permanent basis for £13m (Sky Sports) but reports indicate that Spurs have no plans to take up the option (Football Insider).

TuttoMercatoWeb were the first to report last month that Lazio had expressed interest in signing the on-loan Atalanta shot-stopper in the summer.

Goal subsequently backed up that claim, stating that Maurizio Sarri’s side hope to snap up the Italian goalkeeper for around €10m (£8.3m) when the transfer market reopens.

La Lazio Siamo Noi have now suggested that Gollini is one of the goalkeepers at the top of Lazio’s wishlist, with the club expected to lose both Thomas Strakosha and Pepe Reina this summer.

The report adds that the former Aston Villa shot-stopper has made his mind up to return to Atalanta in the summer and then look for ‘a new adventure’

Spurs Web Opinion

Gollini might not have got a lot of opportunities but he has remained extremely professional through his time at Spurs so far and seems to be a great influence in the dressing room. However, it looks inevitable that he will return to Atalanta this summer and seek a move in search of first-team football.
