Report: Serie A club preparing for rumoured Spurs centre-back target to leave

According to Corriere dello Sport, Fiorentina are preparing for rumoured Tottenham target Nicola Milenkovic to leave this summer.

Milenkovic has been a consistent performer in Fiorentina’s backline for the past few years but his contract with the Serie A club only runs until 2023 (Transfermarkt).

Spurs were linked with a move for the centre-back ahead of the January transfer window (Corriere di Puglia e Lucania) while Newcastle United were also credited with an interest in the player (The Sun).

The Sunday Mirror (20/3; page 74) claimed recently that the 24-year-old had no intention of renewing his contract amidst interest from the likes of Spurs.

Corriere have now revealed that Manchester United have their eye on their Serbian, having sent scouts over to run the rule over the centre-back this season.

It is suggested Fiorentina do not want to be caught off guard if Milenkovic pushes to leave and are thus identifying potential replacements for him ahead of the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

Milenkovic is a solid defender and someone who is used to playing in a back three. However, the right centre-back role is his best position and we have plenty of options for that position at the moment. So, unless both Sanchez and Tanganga are sold in the summer, I do not expect us to pursue the Serbian.
