Report: Serie A club preparing new contract offer for reported Spurs target

Lazio have offered goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha a new contract in an attempt to ward off interest from the likes of Tottenham, according to reports from Italy.

Tuttomercatoweb report that the Seria A club are desperate to hold onto their number one amidst interest from several Premier League clubs.

Il Tempo (print edition, page 30, March 13, 2020) reported earlier this week that Spurs were eyeing a move for the Albanian international in the summer. The report asserted that they faced competition from Everton and Leicester City for the 26-year-old’s services.

Strakosha is not the only keeper to be linked with a move to North London so far, with Ajax’s Andre Onana also reported to be a target for Spurs (The Sun).

However, Tuttomercatoweb claims that the Lilywhites will have their work cut out to try and tempt Strakosha from Lazio as the club are prepared to give the shot-stopper a substantial pay rise.

The Italians have also reportedly slapped a £32 million price tag on the goalkeeper’s head.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Vorm leaving in the summer, we will almost certainly be in the market for a goalkeeper. It remains to be seen if the club will go for someone who can complete for the number one shirt or if they will be content signing someone as an understudy. I personally believe Jose isn’t convinced by Gazzaniga and so I believe we could sign someone like Strakosha, who could be Lloris’ eventual successor in a couple of years.
