Report: Serie A club reduce rumoured Spurs target’s price by £27m

Tottenham Hotspur may have received a boost in their rumoured chase of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as Foot Mercato report that Lazio are ready to shave £27 million off the midfielder’s asking price this summer.

Milinkovic-Savic has been one of the most effective creative midfielders in the Serie A for multiple seasons but has failed to live up to his usual high standards this campaign.

The Daily Mail reported back in April that Tottenham were one of several Premier League clubs attempting to land the Montenegro international this summer.

However, a report in Corriere Della Sera a couple of weeks ago suggested that the 25-year-old was likely to stay put at the Stadio Olympico and was prepared to sign a new deal with Lazio.

It was also suggested that the Serie A side were asking for over £90 million to part ways with the midfielder.

Foot Mercato now reports that Lazio have softened their stance due to the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and are willing to allow Milinkovic-Savic to leave for £63 million.

The report asserts that Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to meet Lazio’s valuation and are the favourites to land the midfielder.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be extremely surprised if many transfers upwards of £50-60 million go through at all this summer. It is clear that even big clubs are having major cash flow issues. I believe that Milinkovic-Savic, much like other highly-valued players, will stay put this summer as there is no value to be had for Lazio to sell him in the current market.
