Report: Serie A club reman in talks over deal for Tottenham’s £23m man

According to RMC Sport, Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan held negotiations over Serge Aurier on Thursday despite the Ivorian’s involvement in Tottenham’s game against Shkendija that same evening.

Aurier made his first appearance of the season in North Macedonia on Thursday and put in an accomplished display as the Lilywhites ran out 3-1 victors to book their place in the knockout stage of the Europa League.

The 27-year-old was unlucky to have not picked up an assist when he picked out both Erik Lamela and Harry Kane with crosses but both players failing to convert from close range.

The former PSG man, who cost £23million in 2017 (Sky Sports) has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Matt Doherty and is one of a number of players Spurs are reportedly ready to cash-in on before the deadline on October 5th (The Athletic’s David Ornstein).

RMC Sport claims that Milan have identified Aurier as one of the main targets this transfer window.

The report reveals that the Serie A club have held talks with the Lilywhites regarding for right-back, who could soon be on his way to Italy.

Sky Sports claimed at the start of last month that the Serie A giants were interested in Aurier.

Spurs Web Opinion

Jose Mourinho has stressed on multiple occasions that he wants two players for every position. If we sell Aurier, that will leave us with Doherty as our only natural right-back. Despite the 28-year-old’s excellent fitness record, I would be surprised if we let Aurier leave without bringing in a younger right-back like Tomas Tavares. I do not see either Gedson or Tanganga as anything more than temporary fixes at right-back.
